23/03/16 Schoeller Textil + SSZ Camouflage are setting a new standard with Camoshield™

Sevelen/Zug – Two innovative Swiss leaders in the area of technical textiles - Schoeller Textil AG and SSZ Camouflage Technology AG – today announced that Schoeller Textil AG has become the worldwide exclusive licence holder (except for the US) of the patented, multispectral camouflage technology for action forces from SSZ Camouflage Technology AG.

With Camoshield™, Schoeller and SSZ Camouflage Technology are setting a new standard, which will benefit modern armed forces with a markedly more efficient finish on their uniforms. The revolutionary camouflage technology in thermal infrared permits a dramatic reduction of detection – while at the same time providing the highest level of clothing comfort.

Thanks to the significant reduction in the thermal signature in various fabrics, SSZ Camouflage Technology far exceeds current camouflage in the visual and near infrared spectrum (NIR) with its technology in the infrared range. The medium infrared spectrum (MWIR) can now also be covered, permitting efficient camouflage from thermal imaging for the first time. The intensive cooperation of the two companies has resulted in Camoshield™. Camoshield™ stands for innovative, comfortable protective fabrics with a multispectral camouflage function. Schoeller will integrate the SSZ technology in the infrared range into its fabrics, to protect military personnel even better from surveillance.

As specialists for performance fabrics, Schoeller develops materials which distinguish themselves with the highest level or clothing comfort combined with protective properties. The requirements of vector protection, waterproofing, moisture management, abrasion resistance or flame retarding properties can now be combined with a multispectral camouflage function. Camoshield™ has been tested by both the Swiss army and other military units. The fabrics were developed and produced by Schoeller Textil AG in Sevelen (Switzerland).

About SSZ Camouflage Technology AG

The strength of SSZ Camouflage Technology AG results from the competence, teamwork and flexibility of our staff and our sense of responsibility towards our customers, and the company measures its success by customer satisfaction, growth and profitability.

10/07/13 Milliken + SSZ Camouflage win a R&D 100 AWARD

MILLIKEN & COMPANY WINS 2013 R&D 100 AWARD
Conceal® Camouflage Technology Recognized as One of the Most Technologically Significant Products of 2013

SPARTANBURG, SC - Milliken & Company and SSZ Camouflage Technology AG were recognized by R&D Magazine with an R&D 100 Award for Conceal® Camouflage Technology. This recognition is only given to the 100 most technologically significant products introduced in the last year on the basis of their importance, uniqueness, innovation, and usefulness.

Conceal® Camouflage Technology is a wearable technology applied to textiles designed to camouflage personnel from thermal imaging and other infrared detection devices.

Conceal not only provides concealment from thermal imaging devices, it also incorporates concealment in the visible, near, and short wave infrared regions of the spectrum.  It is a versatile technology that can be applied to a wide variety of fabrics, including the daily uniforms worn by soldiers and security personnel today.  Because it is also comfortable, Conceal can be part of the standard uniform, not just an item soldiers wear when they think they need protection.

Conceal works in both warm and cold climates, and, by varying the pattern and colors of the material, it is effective in a variety of environments ranging from urban to desert to jungle.

Milliken & Company licensed the Conceal technology from SSZ Camouflage Technology AG on October 15, 2012, the first time the technology has been available to the U.S. market.
